Anytime roads or properties are built, paved, or graded land survey monuments get destroyed. A corner record is way to perpetuate these marks and cut down on the costs to perform land surveys.

Before the bonds can be released, a monument inspection is conducted to verify the proper placement and condition of survey monuments or markers that were installed during the construction process. These monuments serve as permanent reference points for accurately identifying property boundaries and surveying future developments. The inspection involves a thorough examination of the monuments to ensure they are intact, undisturbed, and align with the survey records and legal requirements. By conducting a comprehensive monument inspection, stakeholders can ascertain the accuracy and reliability of the survey work, providing assurance that the necessary improvements have been made as per the agreed-upon specifications, ultimately facilitating the release of improvement bonds. Sometimes surveyors retire or move to different jobs and when this happens a Certificate of Correction Monument Substitution will be required along with the monument inspection case.
